The housing situation is a very complicated issue, especially with the first site chosen by the County for Indwell to put in a facility. The neighbourhood does not want high aquitu people there; however the Indwell model demands a number of this type of tenant to make it economically feasible to manage. I believe that with some care and consultation that an end goal can be reached whereby both the housed and the homeless can be satisfied. I am still learning in this area and will be formulating a plan well beyond this writing. My ultimate goal for the end of my four years on council, would be to have housed the majority of our homeless, if not all, and to do it satisfying most of the people in Sarnia (lofty I know!) Should facilities go in where there are dangers to a neighbourhood, I believe that the City and the Police have a responsibility to keep the area around and supportive housing facility safe and clean.
