One specific action I would support is identifying City-owned or underused land that could be made available for affordable and attainable housing partnerships, with clear conditions that the resulting housing actually remains affordable. I would work with the County, other levels of government, non-profits and responsible private-sector partners to leverage available funding rather than placing the full cost on Sarnia taxpayers. By the end of four years, I would expect this approach to have moved suitable properties into development, increased the number and variety of attainable housing options, and created a practical pipeline for additional housing beyond the term.
