Yes. We have invested significant time and public money developing these plans, and I believe we need to start delivering on them.
My priority would be moving the Waterfront Master Plan forward, while continuing phased improvements to Canatara, Germain and Norm Perry Parks, with a focus on maintaining and improving the assets we already have, accessibility, safety and amenities that provide the greatest benefit to residents.
We cannot fund every recommendation at once, nor should the entire cost fall on property taxpayers. I would establish clear priorities within our capital plan and actively pursue provincial and federal grants, partnerships, sponsorships and other funding opportunities. For the waterfront specifically, I would also pursue the revenue-generating opportunities contemplated in the existing Master Plan, including appropriate redevelopment of City-owned lands.
Residents participated in developing these plans. They should be more than documents on a shelf. My focus will be on setting priorities, identifying the funding and getting projects moving.
