I believe the biggest municipal barrier is the cost and complexity of the requirements for hosting large-scale events in Sarnia. I would undertake a review of the City’s event framework, including insurance requirements, fees, noise exemptions, permitting and approval timelines, with direct input from event organizers and promoters. The goal would be to remove unnecessary barriers while maintaining appropriate protections for the City and surrounding neighbourhoods.
Sarnia has demonstrated that it can host major events. I want us to create the conditions that encourage organizers and promoters to bring major events here again.
