Jane’s Walk

Jane's Walk

You’re invited to a community conversation about the future of Mitton Street!

Join neighbours, local business owners, and storytellers for a meaningful discussion about the upcoming reconstruction of Mitton Street from Wellington to George. This is a unique opportunity to learn about what’s planned, reflect on what makes this area special, and share your vision for how it can evolve to better serve the community.

Whether you live, work, shop, or simply pass through Mitton Village, your voice matters. What would make this street more welcoming, vibrant, and accessible? What improvements would help local businesses thrive and bring people together?

We’ll be collecting ideas, feedback, and community-driven recommendations throughout the event and presenting them to the City of Sarnia for consideration as part of the reconstruction process.

What is Jane's Walk?

Jane’s Walk is a global movement of free, community-led walking conversations inspired by urbanist and activist Jane Jacobs. These walks encourage people to explore their neighbourhoods, share stories, and connect with their communities.

Originating in Toronto in 2007, Jane’s Walks have expanded to hundreds of cities worldwide. Each walk is led by volunteers passionate about their local areas, offering insights into the history, culture, and issues affecting their communities.

The walks aren’t just about architecture or urban planning—they’re about fostering dialogue, understanding, and a sense of belonging. By walking together, people can observe, reflect, and collectively reimagine the places they live, work, and play.
