Festive Nutcrackers
nuSarnia Festive Nutcracker Project
The Festive Nutcracker Project, which ran from November 16 to December 27, was a true celebration of community and creativity.
Six 5-foot tall nutcrackers were displayed along Christina Street at iconic locations including the Downtown Market, Tin Fiddler, Coldwell Banker, Blackwater Coffee, The Judith & Norman Alix Art Gallery, and Bad Dog Bar & Grill.
Throughout the event, visitors were invited to stroll downtown, admire the festive displays, and cast their votes for their favourite nutcracker. The project not only brought joy to the community but also raised $1,700 for the Women’s Interval Home of Sarnia Lambton.
Emily Wright emerged as the winner of the project, with participating businesses sharing positive feedback about the impact of the event. They reported increased foot traffic and people visiting specifically to see the nutcrackers. Many expressed interest in future projects like this one, aimed at revitalizing the downtown area. The Festive Nutcracker Project was a shining example of how art and community engagement can contribute to the vibrancy and success of local businesses.
